Biography: Paul Lawrie MBE
Paul Stewart Lawrie MBE is a Scottish professional golfer who is best known
for winning The Open Championship in 1999 and being a member of Team Europe
winning the Ryder Cup in 2012.
The Morison Trophy
On the 21st October 1924 a remarkable event took place on the river
Deveron when Mrs ‘Tiny’ Morison established the record for the largest
United Kingdom fly caught Salmon, landing a fish weighing 61lb. In 2008 the
Morison family together with the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Trust
designed a memorial trophy to be awarded annually for the largest rod caught
fish from the river Deveron that is witnessed. The Sculptor was Tarrats, one
of the most prestigious jewellers in the UK. The Trophy is made of silver
and black marble and is thought to be the most valuable game angling award
in Britain.
Morison Trophy Winner 2015 – 30.5 lbs Salmon
We are pleased to announce, Mr Craig Wyness from Peterhead has been
awarded the Morison Trophy for the 2nd time. The award was given for his
fly-caught 30.5lbs Salmon from Upper Netherdale. In winning the trophy, Mr
Wyness shall also be presented with a Vision salmon fly-rod, sponsored by
Turriff Tackle and Trophies (www.fishingthedeveron.co.uk), for releasing the
fish, a limited edition fly box and bottle of William Lawson’s Scotch Whisky
